The fourth edition of Pakistan’s very own international Twenty20 event, PSL (Pakistan Super League), is all set to commence from February 14.
In a very short interval of time, the league has been recognized globally as a mega T20 tournament where top international cricketers from around the world take part to light up the competition.
The quality of cricket in the PSL has been brilliant in all the three seasons happened thus far. The league has received the tremendous amount of response from the Pakistani fans. Particularly, it has got all the charisma to grab the attention of cricketing fanatics.
This time around, the PSL aims to be much bigger and greater, with the addition of more extravagant foreign stars and more number of matches being played in Pakistan, the place where it actually belongs to. The last eight matches of the tournament will be held in the cities of Lahore and Karachi.
Noticing all the preparations taking place for the competition, it certainly looks that this season will be more exhilarating and charming as compared to the three seasons happened before.
There are at least four reasons that this edition will be a unique and more enthralling experience for its followers.
1. Mr. 360° AB de Villiers will be a part of the PSL 4
The finest batsman of the modern era and an immensely versatile individual, AB de Villers, will be a part of the season four of Pakistan Super League.
The addition of AB de Villiers in the tournament will be a huge boost to the brand value of the PSL. Lahore Qalandars will be having services of the renowned South African batsman.
The Qalandars were popular for scoring in a blistering way in initial part of innings and failing to continue their momentum in the later phase of the innings. That’s why the batting of Lahore remained extremely miserable for the most part of the third edition.
The inclusion of AB de Villiers can rectify problems of Lahore because he is the one who can play a fighting knock to guide his team to a respectable total after a horrible start of 20/3. He can also carry on with his magnificent strokes when the team needs to him to maintain the good platform of 130/1.
“PSL is a league that has given Pakistan so much to cheer about and I look forward to being on the field once again,” shared his thoughts AB de Villiers on his appearance in PSL.
“I look forward to revisiting the Gaddafi Stadium and aim to play my part in helping Lahore Qalandars achieve something they have been aspiring for since the inception of this tournament in 2016,” committed AB de Villiers that he will be playing a role in bringing back regular participation of foreign players in Pakistan.
2. Eight matches of the PSL will be played in Pakistan
Pakistan faced innumerable problems since the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore. Many times the teams agreed to tour the country but they refused to visit in case of any recent incident that would stop the joys and happiness coming in the way.
Pakistanis watching cricket in this decade, are always frustrated by the fact that they can’t even witness their favourite stars playing in their own land.
Pakistan Super League has proved out to be a great source of creating interest among international stars in playing cricket in Pakistan.
In all the matches of the PSL held thus far in Pakistan, the stadium has been jam-packed in each game, which showed the eager and hunger of Pakistani people for the nation’s biggest sport in the home country.
Due to the PSL, the renowned T20 stars like JP Duminy, Colin Ingram Joe Denly and Darren Sammy have already visited Pakistan to play matches in Lahore and Karachi. With more stars like Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine, AB de Villiers and Colin Munro being agreed to tour Pakistan for the revival of cricketing celebrations in the country, this season of Pakistan Super League aims to be much more mouth-watering.
3. Abu Dhabi to host the PSL games for the first time
It will be the first time when Abu Dhabi will be hosting games of Pakistan Super League. Earlier, the venue did not get the privilege of hosting games in the first three seasons of Pakistan’s mega T20 competition.
Thus far, only the stadiums in Dubai and Sharjah have hosted the games of the PSL from the United Arab Emirates.
Abu Dhabi has attracted a large number of crowds in T20 games, particularly when the games of Indian Premier League took place at the stadium. The cricket fans in Abu Dhabi have also offered great support for Pakistan in their home games.
Four games of the Pakistan Super League fourth edition will be played in Abu Dhabi. It is anticipated that following the tradition of producing high-quality games, Abu Dhabi will prove out to be a fantastic place for organization of the PSL games.
4. A newly shaped Multan Sultans side
Earlier, the company that bought the sixth franchise taking part in the PSL had some issues ongoing with the Pakistan Cricket Board which resulted in withdrawing of the sixth team from the PSL.
Ali Khan Tareen, who is a son of a famous Pakistani politician and businessman Jahangir Tareen, bought the sixth team through his successful bid of $5.2 M. Due to the popular demand, the owner decided to retain the same name assigned for the sixth team in the previous season.
However, the logo, the batch of foreign players and the rest of the things will be different for the new team playing in the league.
Multan Sultans have got exceptional players who are globally renowned due to their phenomenal display in the modern form of the game. T20 specialists like Andre Russell, Shoaib Malik, Nicolas Pooran and Shahid Afridi will be showing their brilliant set of skills for Multan in the fourth edition of the PSL.
They surely will be a side to watch out for in the Pakistan Super League.
