Farewell innings of Cook finishes, Test cricket prepares to say goodbye to its beloved

Purest form of the game says goodbye to its beloved as farewell innings of Alastair Cook concludes with splendid score of 147 runs. In the first innings of his last Test match, he scored crucial 72 runs that helped England to have their advantage and control in the match.

He walked backed to the pavilion raising his bat to celebrate his legendary career and expressing gratitude to his fans for standing right beside him throughout his stint for the national team. Indian players shook hands with him to pay their regards on the heartwarming occasion.

Alaistair Cook represented England for 161 Test matches and turned out be the highest run-scorer of his country with the tally of 12472 runs.

Cook is overall the fifth highest run-scorer in Test cricket after he surpassed Kumar Sangakkara who has got 12400 runs in his bag.

Test cricket would be thankful to its beloved for showing how delightful the game looks when it is played in its real shape and sphere.

England will miss the presence of Cook because he held out one of the most difficult batting position for years. Moreover, it will be interesting to see how they would choose someone for the role of caretaker of his exceptional legacy.
